Starting & Stopping Bottles
Click the green ▶ Start button on any Bottle in your Dashboard. The platform creates a new Docker container, mounts your files, and starts serving them. The button changes to a red ⏹ Stop button once the container is running.
The container typically takes 3-10 seconds to boot. During this time the status will show "starting". Once ready, the status changes to "running" and your public URL becomes active.
Click the red ⏹ Stop button. The container shuts down gracefully — it's given 10 seconds to finish any in-progress requests before being forcefully terminated. Your site goes offline immediately, but all your files remain safely stored on disk.
Stopping a Bottle does not delete anything. Your uploaded files persist on the server's hard drive. When you click Start again, a fresh container is created and your files are remounted — everything picks up right where you left off.
There is no dedicated restart button. To restart a Bottle, stop it and then start it again. This creates a completely fresh container with your latest files.
